Chief Compliance Officer

Summary

The Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for leading, implementing and managing compliance programs and processes consistent with Green Dot’s policies and executive management’s commitment to maintain a high standard of compliance with applicable consumer protection and public interest laws and regulations. The Chief Compliance Officer monitors company practices to ensure ongoing compliance with consumer laws and regulations and adherence to established policies and procedures and routinely reports results and highlights emerging issues.

 

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Oversight

    • Oversee the development, implementation and on-going maintenance of relevant compliance-related policies and procedures

    • Oversee and continuously enhance Green Dot’s compliance management programs

    • Collaborate and provide subject matter expertise to advise internal stakeholders on compliance correction plans and activities

  • Training and Education

    • Establish and administer Green Dot’s compliance training program for employees and contractors; ensuring appropriate training is in place to address relevant compliance obligations

  • Compliance Monitoring and Testing

    • Manage the compliance monitoring program, ensuring appropriate risk assessment, testing, and on-going monitoring to ensure compliance with consumer laws and regulations and adherence to established policies and procedures

  • Complaint Management

    • Oversee the complaint management program, reviewing and reporting on volume, trends, potential issues and opportunities for enhancement

  • Marketing Material Compliance

    • Support the comprehensive review of new or modified marketing materials and disclosures to ensure conformance to applicable regulatory requirements and expectations

    • Develop, maintain and update marketing material and collateral review guides for different products and services

    • Ensure sufficient sampling of the various forms of customer communications for compliance with policies, e.g., calls, email, chat and social media

  • Risk Assessments and Due Diligence
  • Review new products and services to ensure key compliance risks are identified and necessary mitigating controls deployed

  • Provide input related to new initiative risk assessments and necessary business requirements to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and expectations

  • Participate in the due diligence process and review of potential acquisition targets to assess compliance risks

  • For card programs issued by third-party banks, oversee third-party bank reviews and audits

  • Integration

  • Promptly integrate new entity acquisitions into the Green Dot compliance program
  • Report key compliance activities, trends, and risks to senior management and the Board

  • Risk Committees

    • Participate and provide updates for various management and risk committees

    • Chairing or co-chairing senior management and risk committees with a focus on compliance risks

 

Requirements

  • Minimum eight (8) years of consumer compliance experience, with experience related to consumer lending preferred preferably within a payment organization, financial institution, consulting organization, state or federal banking agency or other related entity

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a leader in a fast-paced and high-growth environment

  • Proven skills in relationship building, influence management and decision-making

  • Decisive and results-oriented problem solver

  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work both individually and in a team environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and development opportunities for staff

  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact with bank employees, management and regulatory examiners 

  • Strong managerial and organizational skills and ability to work in an efficient manner

  • Strong project management skills to prioritize and balance multiple tasks

  • High degree of initiative and strong ability to meet principle accountabilities with limited direction and oversight

  • Proficient with MS Office Professional programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Excellent report design, preparation and delivery skills

  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA or other advanced degrees a plus
